Yes, I know that some spirits are predatory oni and youkai… Others are more congenial yasha and tenchi… but you generally don’t have to worry about the former in the safe havens.
Actually, the interesting thing about the Shinigami students in my story is that they keep their physical bodies, even on the Spirit plane. Part of their training makes them able to endure more than humans, as well as their physical transformation as they keep training… you’ll see all that happen as we go along.
Since they keep their physical bodies, the students wind up having to endure lots of stuff later on. ^_~
