Sharp of wit but seldom scathing, this new student plans to make himself known. The methods by which he goes about doing so may not be the most orthodox. He has an air about him which draws in people's attention yet keeps them at their distance - lest he make eye contact. He's actually a lot more considerate than he seems. He can be considered a geek in many respects.

Fun Facts: He tends to call Clash type "Crash". His strange outfit is a cosplay outfit based on a character from an obscure comic he was a fan of: Slay Saga: The Last Trial. He dislikes the color purple and has incomplete shoulder tattoos. He hates bugs with a passion (except banana slugs - those are awesome!).

A mildly intimidating man with fewer friends than you might think. He managed to forge a relationship with Saru in his first year. At Chains's appearance, he finds his eye (and other things) wandering more easily than suspected, despite his usually strong will. He's reserved with his emotions and isn't read easily, save by Chains, which unnerves him. One would think he could fare well on his own.

Fun Facts: He managed to have his recently-deceased and beloved pet schnauzer, Iffle, restored into Shikigami form by the Bureau. Iffle's not the same, but it comforts him nonetheless. He likes sex a bit too much. He has a beauty mark below his lip on the right.

A man with a very distinctly direct and domineering demeanor. He finds himself easily envious of whomever else shares Eustace's company. He is somewhat physically weak, despite being statuesque. He tends not to like it when things don't go his way but is easily mollified. He affects an air of education, despite having never been to college. Most of his life's efforts have fallen flat, causing him to have very low expectations when it comes to most things. He almost always finds disappointment better than nothing at all.

Fun Facts: He can never actually decide on what to do with his hair, and doesn't actually like it as it is. He didn't actually live in Africa for very long.

A girl who likes to be taken seriously but rarely is. Like many of her peers, she doesn't talk about herself often. A former adoptee, her views of the "traditional" family are nonexistent. For whatever reason, she despises Chains like a cat does water and tries to avoid him whenever she sees him. She does not do a good job of it. She regrets their ever having met, but most regard her as over-sensitive. She's actually very pleasant when in better moods and likes to indulge in games. She's something of an environmentalist, unable to ignore nature's life force.

Fun Facts: Whenever she talks, all Chains claims to hear is "Echooo~!"

Since his passable high school days, he's spent a lot of time disciplining his mind and body in attempt to reform himself. He has scars on his body, remnants of his former fighting hobbies and intense bodybuilding. He's soft-spoken and very sensitive at heart (and also very easy to get to). He had a car accident a few years ago that disabled the use of one of his legs (and has endured lots of physical therapy), but with Shinigami training the feeling may return to it!

Fun Facts: Emblem is almost always seen with a bandana around his head that tends to make others think he belongs in a gang. It's actually just for sweat.

Being such a young newbie, Donna often looks to her peers for support and guidance, despite how a lot of her peers can't immediately be trusted, least of all Chains. She actually does carefully choose the people on whon she can rely. She always seems happy and knowledgeable beyond her peers' understanding, ever able to provide her friends with moral support and/or vital information. Her life was complicated, developing her enjoyment of simpler things.

Very strong-willed and multifaceted, Nexy also has a tendency to be strongheaded and fast to act. She is confident; her actions tend to be larger-than life, yet she also keeps incidents within her ability. She tends to make friends of anyone pretty easily and has a wide range of interests, as well as a few hidden passions. Some take her abilities to be the advantage of being a teacher's daughter, but she is actually more challenged by that position. Formerly a gymnast training for the Olympics, double-jointed and somewhat stretchy, her body is capable of superhuman flexibility.
Only she fully knows how her father, No Chester, became a Shinigami Teacher so quickly.

Fun Facts: Nexy has actually been a while in becoming a Shinigami, having dropped out to roam the world of the Ronadas for some time after her second year. She recently returned to the ITAD.

A fifth-year who once called himself "The Next Obigami". He's not so apparently full of himself but still is aloof from most students. He is known for being somewhat sexually skilled, as well as "generous" - his allure a big contribution. He has a strange, mildly obsessive way of compiling information on things he likes whenever and wherever he can. He tends to divert conversations away from the topic of his life.

Fun Facts: He claims he will punch whoever refers to him by his real name. Does he look like he could punch anybody? Also, he can sing, but doesn't.

Cinna Mon

This boy does whatever he can with his twin brother, Min. It was, of course, Min's idea to become a Shinigami, and thus he followed. Cinna tends to mimic his brother in any way he can, though whether it is out of habit is unsure. He's not at all quick of wit, but he's committed to his convictions and has a big heart.

Fun Facts: He claims that his hairstyle is completely natural.

Min Mon

Min, the more dominant Mon brother (he says that he came out first, though he knows otherwise), has a lot of ideas that don't often come to fruition. He exudes a strange and most certainly misplaced air of importance and always demands his way. He can be awfully blunt at times and too vague at other times, and he cannot stand being told his weak points. He spent a good deal of his life sheltering his brother.

Fun Facts:He has a strong taste for high fashion, even though he could never afford it. He loves bananas.

Teacher of the History classes and a scholar for decades, he has an extensive knowledge of standards, happenings, and ethics relating to Shinigami and worldwide cultures. He himself is not a Shinigami, but has been allowed to work at the ITAD with all his knowledge. He has prioritized knowledge over many other aspects of his life. Some students tease and threaten to kill him if he gives a pop quiz.

Fun Facts: He spends a lot of time typing on an old-fashioned typewriter. His eyesight isn't really that bad.

A very serious and powerful person, No Fila treats all she touches as absolute priority, as if there were nothing more important - yet she never gets attached to them. Hence, she makes absolutely certain that the decisions made in her Discovery class are 100% sure, or waits and monitors the students who cannot choose very closely until they are sure. She often does not understand others because they are unwilling/unable to open themselves to her, or she simply can't comprehend their thinking.

Fun Facts: She walks around followed by various kinds of small birds and is sometimes found flute-playing in the gardens.

No Gachan / Gagami (Maima Gachan)

One of the younger instructors in the Institution, No Gachan is energetic in her teaching of the sciences. Her two abilities combined with her enthusiasm make her a deadly oppnent and an effective Shinigami. Her good moods are not easily ruined. She's steadfast and nearly unflappable, but a few things are known to bring her to her knees. She feels she hasn't done enough with her two centuries' worth of life.

Fun Facts: Part of her head and left arm was reconstructed with metal. Despite looking cool, her robotic eye isn't good for much, even sight.

An able-bodied man, he serves as an exemplary model of his types and performs well in all his Field and Combat classes. He looks nothing like a warrior yet hosts an alarming amount of power. Despite his age and his short life as a Shinigami, he is already a powerful fighter and an instructor. He is Nexy's father and challenges her in what ways he can. They had parted ways in life earlier but found each other again as Shinigami. Henceforth, they became closer.

Fun Facts: He actually likes bagpipe music! He hasn't traveled the world as much as he'd like to.

A man very sure of himself, No Farras is bold in his actions and dealings. Many cite him as an example of the exemplary courage needed to be able to reap souls. He has a slightly bearish appearance, despite having had no interest in Claw-type.

A strong competitor, a skilled warrior, and a stunningly helpful fellow, he's one of the most liked teachers in the Institute. His origins are of rumor: some say he was once a lizard bestowed the gift of human shape and mind by a benevolent Spirit. Having so much newfound time on his hands, he lived a human life, then became a Shinigami.

Fun Facts: He has a strange, strong connection to scaled animals. He also likes birds.

The current Principal of the Institute and King of Death Gods. The very third to have ever had control of the Institute, he maintains all the rules and does a great job of keeping the place and its maintainers in order. He took a more holistic approach to the training of Shinigami and radically changed the Institute from what it once was. He himself chose all the teachers and has utmost trust in them. He is remarkably genial and sometimes blends into the environment as if he were a student, even in spite of his large presence. Despite his apparent age, he still looks something of a more refined young adult. He doesn't like to openly dwell on personal matters, although he is quite personable himself.

Since the role of leader descended ultimately from Obigami (and he himself acquired the role by being valedictorian the year of his graduation), he is the go-between for Shinigami and God. Not many such go-betweens are had these days - the business has expanded, and issues are low - but he is the highest and most powerful Shinigami there is, well-rounded but excelling in Claw and not to be trifled with.

Fun Facts: He is rumored to possess a great White Tiger Spirit, as well as many other extremely powerful Spirits. How he came to acquire them is both myth and legend.

Midogami

One of Obigami's original four Apprentices when the Institute was founded - and the only Oni ever trusted to live on Institute grounds and serve the Shinigami as Vice President. He is the only one who stayed after Obigami's death and now serves as Vice-Principal to Jonegami. He was also VP when Ruegami headed the Institute, although she was less trusting, leaving him to hang like a raven from her shoulder. His feelings of inadequacy when it comes to his assisting Jonegami still remain.

It is said he did not inherit the full-on Principal position through both passings because he lacks leadership skills despite his experience, but he believes it's because he is an Oni who cannot be purified.
Never having been overly hostile or mean-natured, Midogami earned a place amongst the ranks of Shinigami in peace, even receiving his own Shinigami title. He is very respected and slightly feared, mostly because of his heavily human (yet not-too-human) appearance and strange aura.

Fun Facts: He not-so-secretly has the hots for Jone. He does teach a class, but it's a seldom-used elective.

Not a current student but rather an "alumnus" (read: drop-out) of the Institute, he is local and known to pop in on some of their field missions, despite being forbidden on the grounds. He has been Marked not to be trusted. He and No Chester have an apparent rivalry for all these interruptions, but their mysterious disappearances mid-battle cannot be accounted for...

Fun Facts: Wren owns both a Slayr and a Blastr, not earned but obtained by theft.

The Vakyries

These Shinigami, in addition to assisting Souls, became organized to seek out others who have fallen in combat and revive them before they perish. They often appear themed after ravens (when women) or swans (when men, much rarer).

The Forgotten

Not a formal group, these Shinigami back from before the days of the Institute are wanderers, unskilled and mostly loners. Considered worthless by contemporary Shinigami, they have withdrawn from every society.

Historical

Obigami: A nickname of the first Shinigami. The original Death God (and hence the only one ever to have been non-human) began hiring jaded humans as his help when humans began dying too often. He established the Institute when his hired help began getting too weak and sloppy. He himself died when he slew one of his own students. (He would have been considered a Clash/State type.)
Yarigami: The student slain by Obigami, shredded by his sword in a qualm about the death of a certain human. He himself specialized in State and Ero and was one of Obigami's four Apprentices even before he graduated.
Ruegami: The Principal after Obigami. She was not part of Obigami's inner circle but was elected for preference. Today no one is sure just what that means. She one day left the Institute in her good friend Jonegami's hands and wandered off. It's believed that since then she has been laid to waste by a powerful Vietnamese Oni.
Pagami: One of Obigami's original four Apprentices. A renowned Sound/Heart type who left the Institute after Obigami's disgrace.
Rinalgami: One of Obigami's original four Apprentices, a Murmur/State type, and a good friend of his. He was especially skilled but exceptionally quiet, and he disappeared with Pagami after Obigami's demise.
Kabengami: One of Obigami's original four Apprentices, a Clash type. Flighty and kind, he was always seemingly detached from the world before he disappeared from it.
Izanami: Originally a creator goddess, she later became a Shinigami (Izagami).
Asatogami: A historical Shinigami known to be a master of Claw-type.
Regami and Riyugami ("Lem" and "Ryu"): Historically linked Shinigami known to have deceived humans and ultimately died for it.

Oguro: An Orangutan who occasionally assists No Fila. He spends a lot of time shaping and polishing gemstones. Appearances: ♦ ♦
Kone: A fat tabby Cat who acts as Jonegami's spy. Even those who look directly at him tend not to notice him. Appearances: ♦ ♦
Jyari: A Gorilla Shikigami maintainer at the school who silently, somewhat creepily, keeps the hallways swept. He also looks after all the smaller Shikigami in their passing work. Appearances: ♦ ♦
Iffle: Eustace's schnauzer, now a Shikigami required to clean up every night at 10:30. Works diligently. Appearances: ♦ ♦
Gatekeeper: The guard of the Institute's front. A strange Chimæra and sapient beast which was formerly a wolfdog. Appearances: ♦ ♦
Wayfinder: The guard of the Institute's rear grounds. Much smaller than Gatekeeper, he is a spry Mink, but no less powerful because of that. Appearances: ♦ ♦
